College students care; show them you do too!
Designed specifically for college stores, this easy-to-adopt program collects textbooks that have no current market value to ensure that fewer are thrown away or discarded in landfills. Our program then works with various partners to recycle these books, maximizing reuse and minimizing reliance on landfills and other solutions that are not eco-friendly.

hear from our bookstores
"One Planet Books allows us to easily provide a sustainable outlet for both students and staff’s unwanted textbooks while providing money that comes right back to campus; it’s great!" -Steve Rhodes, director of Johnson County Community College Bookstore
about our program
It's easy and completely cost free! We provide your store with all of the supplies and materials needed, including collection boxes and marketing materials. Once collected, simply pack and ship the books to MBS using special One Planet Books shipping labels that we provide and we'll even pay the freight!

bookstore benefits
One Planet Books has paid $420,470 in cash directly to college stores across the country! The majority of that money is reinvested in each school's campus or community, making a significant impact.
Don't miss out on the benefits other stores are experiencing! Our program allows your store to:
- Earn revenue for each carton of books collected!
- Control the proceeds – you can use them to support your campus or community
- Help the environment
- Enhance your eco-friendly image

eco-benefits
Better yet, One Planet Books supports sustainability! In fact, our program recycles 572,698 pounds of books in just one week which is equivalent to saving 68,000 gallons of water or 1,174,030 kilowatt hours of energy! With the help of college stores across the country, we've diverted 2,663 tons of books from landfills as of September 2011!

our recycle partners
We partner with several recycling programs to ensure that each book is properly destroyed and repurposed. Once shredded, the recycled books are used to create a product of free sheet and mixed grade bales for major sustainable companies including Kimberly-Clark to create products such as napkins or tissues!
